Short Courses
Over
the years, short courses have been offered at the Ranch to provide
students, faculty, staff and others, information
and training on current practices and techniques. Short courses
are
related to Ranch resource management and Cal Poly curriculum,
and are organized as the need and opportunities arise.
In January 2006, Dave Rosgen
spent several days training a group on the stream restoration
methods that have made him famous.
In the picture below and to the right, Dave can be seen explaining the concepts
of stream restoration and the application of his methods to streams
in Santa Cruz County.
In 1999, a Forest Road Inventory short course was offered by
Danny Hagans of Pacific Watershed Associates. In the picture
below, Danny can be seen talking with attendees about road inventory,
erosion control and stream protection.
Tim Ard, president of Forest Applications Training, Inc., has provided
Felling and Bucking trainings on several occasions for Cal
Poly students, faculty and staff. |
